  16. First of all, let me say that I am very happy (overall) with K95 and
  17. that I am glad I bought it.

  19. However, I have two problems:

  21. I am using K95 on a laptop running W95 in 640x480 and on a desktop
  22. running W95 in 1408x1024. On the laptop, I am using a USRobotics 28.8
  23. sportster (pcmcia card), and on the desktop I am using an external
  24. 28.8 sportster.

  26. I never have trouble connecting on the desktop, but on the laptop, I
  27. can *never* connect unless I *first* use another program to open the
  28. pcmcia (on com2) first. Then K95 works correctly. Otherwise, I get a
  29. message to the effect that "unable to open com2: no such file or
  30. directory", followed by "must set LINE first". This does not happen if
  31. I use another com program (hyperterminal for example) to open the com
  32. port first. Since I now know this, the "workaround" is easy, but it
  33. would be nice if it weren't necessary. Again, I do *not* have ths
  34. problem on the desktop with an external modem.
  35.  
  36. Second problem. I generally dial in to a machine using vt100 and in my
  37. dialing entry, I select 49 lines. This works *perfectly* (which is one
  38. of the reasons that I *really* like K95 :-). However, when I am done
  39. with the connection, the "console app" portion of K95, *shrinks* to a
  40. window that is incredibly small! I can type exit, and then open a
  41. "normal" sized window again, and everything is fine. I can also change
  42. the font from "auto" to a fixed size, and the window will behave
  43. correctly. However, it seems that the automatic resizing using 49
  44. lines in vt100 mode, does not cause a proper return when the session
  45. is done. Hitting Alt-X to return (temporarily) to command mode does
  46. *not* cause a problem. It is only when the session is closed and the
  47. modem hangs up that I experience the problem. This happens on *both*
  48. the laptop and the desktop.
  49.  
  50. Two last datapoints:

  52. I have NT3.51 at home, and while I normally don't dial out using NT, I
  53. loaded K95 and dialled out just to check. It does *not* experience the
  54. problem described above. In other words, it can return to a "normal"
  55. (but bigger) window when the 49 line session is ended.

  57. This problem occured in all versions of K95 since 1.1. I have upgraded
  58. to the latest 1.1.3 and it still occurs :-(
